A Warm Welcome to the
2022-2023 School Year!

Whether you are a newcomer or a returning citizen and student of BESD, we welcome you to the 2022-23 school year! We are pleased that you have chosen to visit our website and hope you learn a great deal about our district. We have outstanding elementary schools which provide a challenging curriculum for all students in a nurturing environment.

Growth continues to be a part of BESD as we look forward to greeting approximately 5,850 students this coming school year. We anticipate this as being a great year in BESD history. We have hired some outstanding employees who will join our ranks, and we will be more than 700 employees strong in 2022-23.

Our team is excited about the privilege of working with your children, and we have been busy this summer in preparation for the coming year. Teams have worked on improving and expanding curriculum resources and instructional strategies; educators have participated in training and workshops to continue their own learning as part of our ongoing commitment to providing your children with the best educational experience possible.

While we move forward in this new decade, BESD will be focusing even more on 21st century skills for our learners. We will continue to leverage technology and work at opening the world to our students who need to be prepared for whatever path they choose upon graduation.

Many of the jobs of tomorrow do not even exist today and we must expand the walls of the classroom and meet the unique needs of today’s students as they develop skills to be competitive and compassionate in a global society.

BESD is proud to celebrate much success within the district. One of the biggest factors in the overall success of our students and our district will always be our ability to work in partnership with our parents and the community. Some of these successes include a teaching and support staff that is caring and committed to each and every student; a “family setting” within our neighborhood schools where children are safe and cared for; and a climate for high expectations for learning as student achievement is our number one priority.

Our goal is that you feel welcome in our schools and that you will become involved in the many things that are taking place.

Again, welcome. We are so glad you call BESD home.

Warm regards,

Dr. Kristi Wilson
