I want to take a moment to welcome you to the Buckeye Elementary School District and the 2020-2021 school year. I am proud to say that no other district demonstrates more passion for their students’ success than BESD, and to assure you that we continue to find ways to demonstrate that commitment, even in these unusual times.
I have never been more proud of our staff, community, and students, because their collective response has consistently focused on helping each other. We often say that BESD manages to sustain a family atmosphere; it’s something that really sets us apart from other districts. In times of crisis, families rally and support each other, and that is exactly what happened in our community in the face of COVID-19. Whether it was through ensuring our families were fed, providing technology to those in need for distance learning, or by rethinking and restructuring our entire instructional model, the BESD family rose to support the community, and each other. Today, these efforts continue, and even expand. BESD is truly a special place to be!
We are a fast growing district located in the fastest growing city in the country. In the fall of 2021 we will open our eighth campus named after the late Senator John S McCain III, a first in the country to do so. The K-8 school is a Computer Science Immersion School which will capture in its educational programming many of the characteristics the senator stood for. In the other seven campuses you will find an array of offerings, including STEM/STEAM, full day kindergarten, PE for all students, art, music, and band programs. There are over 5,800 students who enter our classrooms every day, and nearly 700 employees who choose to call BESD their family workplace. We are the second largest employer in the city of Buckeye! As a matter of fact, I would recommend you explore some of the links below to learn more about us.
We are pleased that you have chosen to visit our website and learn more about our district. We have outstanding K-8 elementary schools which provide a challenging curriculum for all students in a nurturing environment, no matter the circumstance.
Dr. Kristi Wilson BESD Superintendent
